Susan M. Schaffer focuses her practice since 1985 on regulatory compliance for health care providers. She is a registered nurse with a masters degree in nursing. Prior to attending law school, she had ten years of experience in clinical nursing practice, and taught baccalaureate nursing students. Susan routinely represents clients before the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (formerly "HCFA") and the Minnesota Department of Health on survey enforcement matters, and before the health professional licensing boards such as Board of Nursing during discipline investigations. She is a frequent speaker to trade association audiences on these topics. Her active practice also involves advice on operational matters such as workplace (employment) issues, rental agreements in senior housing, and sensitive resident and family dilemmas.
